Parent/Player Orientation Meetings and Pre-Season Clinics

To ensure you know everything there is to know about FusionVBC, we will host 2 Parent/Player Orientation Meetings.  At this time, we’ll summarize the program, you’ll meet the coaches and ask questions.  Parents of any age group can attend either of the Orientation meetings.

Players are invited to attend the age-specific pre-season clinic to work out with the FusionVBC coaches.  The clinics are fast and fun and will provide an idea of what our club practices entail.

Please check the event calendar for dates, times and locations.

Tryouts will be scheduled according to the North Texas Region schedule.  Each age group will have 3 tryout dates to work toward a position on a team.  FusionVBC coaches will lead drills to determine skill level, ability, how coachable the player is and their attitude while coaches for the age group will be evaluating the players.

A selected player will be provided with an offer.  In accordance with the North Texas Region Acceptance Policy (listed below), the offer must be returned by the acceptance date along with the deposit payment.

Coaching Staff

Click here for detailed resumes on the coaching staff

FusionVBC has been blessed with coaches that have a great deal of talent and experience in volleyball and with coaching junior athletes.  Each of our coaches have successful records with the teams they have coached with either former colleges, club associations, high schools or secondary schools.  They are driven to ensure that FusionVBC is successful and that each and every one of our athletes has a positive training experience.

The coaching staff is responsible for setting expectations up front, running well-organized practices which will increase the athlete’s skills, providing timely communication on schedules and meeting times and most importantly, providing a safe and fun instructional environment where the athletes will grow in the sport.

For safety purposes and as required by the North Texas Region, each of our coaches undergo a background investigation completed by the North Texas Region’s vendor.

FusionVBC believes in consistency in our high performance training, therefore, several months have been spent developing a standardized practice program based on a very successful collegiate program delivered by our coaching director, Linnea Donovan.  All FusionVBC coaches are trained under this program and are provided detailed and instructional practice plans which include age- and skill-specific drills along with team-specific skill training.  We believe that this program will provide a consistent level of training across the club.

New for 2007/08, FusionVBC has integrated a position-specific training in which all players will combine for each position approximately one additional practice every 3 weeks.  This positional training will focus on physical and mental mechanics required for each position on the court.  Coaches identified as skill experts will run these positional practices.

In addition to volleyball skills, FusionVBC has partnered with Harden Fitness to deliver performance training.  This training will focus on the muscle strengthening and muscle memory required for peak performance.  Players will set their own goals for growth and which will be tracked to show their progress.  The cost of this training is included in the club fees.  Additional opportunities for small group and individual training at reduced fees will be available for FusionVBC members.

    Practice

FusionVBC delivers an innovative practice program created from a highly successful collegiate program.  Practices consist of intense drills created specifically for each of the mechanics involved in playing competitive volleyball.  Also included is a regimen of performance training to increase foot speed, vertical reach and endurance.  Each coach is trained under this program, and to ensure consistency in delivery across all teams, our coaching director creates custom practice plans.

All teams will practice two times each week in team practice and then one additional practice approximately every three weeks in specific positional training.  The positional training rotates each week (i.e. all club setters will train together, then all defensive players, then outside and right side hitters, etc.).

FusionVBC is extremely proud of the growing partnership with Frisco Independent School District.  We have access to ample well maintained courts during the week.  Our teams practice in the finest facilities in the area, and have access to necessary training equipment that aids in building accuracy and strength in skills.

Practice schedules will be provided once teams have been finalized.  We aim to schedule practices so that they do not conflict with school game days.

       top top

    Tournaments

Individual participation is crucial to the success of the team.  When a link is missing from a well-oiled machine, the structure is weakened and may not operate to its fullest potential.  We stress the importance of an individual’s contribution to the team, therefore, your full commitment to your team is required.  This means attending and participating in all sanctioned club events, including practices and tournaments.

FusionVBC guarantees equal participation in training and practices, but play time in tournaments is never guaranteed to anyone.  The athlete must work to earn his/her position on the court by working hard, striving to improve, full participation in practices and tournaments whether on the sidelines or on the court and a great attitude.  The coach will provide the mechanism for success and will consistently communicate with your athlete on areas of improvement as well as their strengths.  It is up to the athlete to give 100% effort in practice and in tournament opportunities.

The head coach of each team is responsible for the composition of the team on the court and determining playing time.  It is in the best interest of the team that we compete for championships, and this may include some players not playing in some matches. The head coaches will make their decisions based on a player's attendance at practices, the importance of an event, attitude, and most of all, the team's needs. Our coaches will do their best do get everyone playing time, but our main focus at tournaments is the team's success.

The tournaments for each age group and each team division are selected based on the historical level of competition and the tournament format.  Additionally, FusionVBC selects the tournaments based on the greatest exposure to collegiate recruiters.

Tournament agendas will be emailed as soon as the club director receives the information from the tournament host.  Tournament information is usually provided the same week of the tournament and no earlier.  All tournament schedules will be finalized after the North Texas Region has posted the final schedule.

    Travel

Out of area tournaments are a great time for the team to bond and enjoy the experience as a unit, however, we do realize that safety comes first. FusionVBC plans travel details very carefully with this in mind along with financial impact as well.

Club members are responsible for transportation to and from all tournaments. Coaches are not responsible for making travel arrangements for players nor will they provide transportation for players.

FusionVBC will provide group air reservations for members to take advantage of lower group fare, however, air fare IS NOT included in club fees. Payment for group air fare must be paid by the due date provided by the airline. Parents and players not traveling with the team will be responsible for making their own arrangement and ensuring that the player arrives on time per the event schedule provided.

FusionVBC will provide van transportation to and from the hotel and to the sanctioned events for players at out of state tournaments.

Players 14’s and over will room together (4 to a room) when overnight stays are required. The cost of the room IS NOT included in club fees. Players 12’s and 13’s will stay with their parents at the same hotel as the club. The club will reserve rooms for Players 14s and over and will block rooms for parents of players 12s and 13s so that they benefit from the group rate. Parents of players 12s and 13s will be responsible for reserving and paying for their room(s) within the timeframe provided. A coach will be assigned to specific rooms for players 14s and over to oversee each room and to ensure the player’s safety.

Hotel and air travel information will be distributed to parents well in advance of the event so that you can make reservations with the same airline and at the same hotel where the teams will be staying.

All players will be provided the Do’s and Don’ts of travel requirements in their member packets.

       top top

    FUNdraising

The FusionVBC has a designated FUNdraising Coordinator on staff that is responsible for preparing a robust list of opportunities for individuals to raise funds to offset the club fees.  Members will be provided with a menu of opportunities with varying levels of effort from which to choose.  Examples are city-wide coupon books (paid for in as little as one or two coupons), spring bulbs, wonderfully scented candles made locally and many others.  Each opportunity has a planned start and end date and also lists the percentage of proceeds that will go directly toward the fee balance.

    College Recruiting Assistance

FusionVBC will continue to work in partnership with the College Athlete Education Program (www.collegiateathlete.com) who provides workshops to families of athletes looking to play volleyball at the collegiate level.  A free workshop will be scheduled with CAEP as an introduction and then additional, more detailed workshops are available to CAEP for a small fee.

For the athletes that attend the CAEP workshops, our staff of college coaches who are highly experienced in recruiting for their own programs will mentor families through the process at regularly scheduled meetings.  A formal mentorship program will be discussed with those athletes interested in pursuing this wonderful opportunity.
